In the amid of pandemic COVID19 final year exams are not mandatory and are superfluous to over the situation of pandemic says Maharashtra Government in their affidavit before the Hon'ble Bombay High Court.
Considering the increasing corona cases in the state, MH government stood on its decision to scrap the exams. MH’s Department of Higher and Technical Education notified in their guideline of 19th June, 2020 about scraping the Final year exams. And thereafter UGC’s given their guideline to take final year exams.
Retired professor Dhananjay Kulkarni through his Adv Uday Warunjikar challenged the notification of government in HC. To answered it, the government filed the affidavit and took a role before the Hon’ble HC and said UGC’s guidelines are superfluous and not mandatory on universities.
HC even admitted two similar petitions challenging the government's notification and given advisory to make a party to the central and state Disaster Management respectively and advised them to reply to it and kept final hearing on 31st July.

Not all but few are not happy with the decision of state over the scraping of exams as they said it would affect their resume. But as per the MH's notification, it's optional to the students if they would like to give the exams and secure the good score then they can, but it would take some time to arrange the exams say government.
