Dozens of the nation's top medical experts are calling on lawmakers to shut down the country again. The latest from the white house. "Dr. Seth Trueger, emergency medicine, North Western University endorsed letter calling for another shutdown: "It's not a question of doing it a second or third time. It's that we're going to be some measure of this for years if we don't do it right."
More than 150 prominent American Medical Experts, Scientists, Teachers, Nurses, and others banded together.
Sending a letter to political leaders
urging them to shut down the country
and start over. Warning in the letter: "If you have done actions, the consequences will be measured in widespread suffering
and death."
Dr. Anthony Fauci, National Institute
of Allergy and Infectious Disease said "You don't necessarily have to go all the
way back to a complete shutdown but you certainly have to call a pause
and maybe even backing up a bit."
This, as states like Florida, continues to shatter records. Reporting more than twelve- thousand
new cases and 135 deaths Friday.
Dr. Aileen Marty, infectious disease
expert, Florida international university said "we're
absolutely drowning here. It just an overwhelming amount of cases."
California also reported its highest number of
deaths in a single day. In Starr
County, Texas County it's a life and death situation. The county issuing a
shelter-in-place order.
Saying "Our doctors are going to decide who receives treatment and who is sent home to die."
The head of the white house coronavirus
task force Dr. Deborah Birx. Putting the situations in Florida, Texas, and California into context. Dr. Deborah Brix, white house coronavirus task
force said "What we have right now are essentially three new yorks with
these three major states."
The USA has hit a new global record of reported
coronavirus cases. The world health organization
reporting 285 thousand new cases in the last 24-hours.
